#TeamHamish are so deeply appreciative of all those who have contributed towards the incredible amount that has been raised to date. We have been truly overwhelmed by the support and generosity that we have received from our local Community and those further afield.

We are also acutely aware that the generous donators are keen for further details of our plans in our ‘Vision for Nairn’ – and #TeamHamish are eager to share these ideas with the Community. However, you will hopefully appreciate that in order to bring our aspirations to fruition we require to utilise the Nairn Common Good lands which are under the stewardship of The Highland Council. We have therefore, in the background, behind all the fabulous fund-raising, been in dialogue with THC to ensure that all the proper and necessary procedures and protocols for such a development are followed.

Our initial meeting with THC Local Elected Councillors took place back in September of last year where the premise of our ideas was discussed. This was a very positive meeting with the agreement that #TeamHamish would work in partnership with THC as a holistic scoping exercise on the Links area was developed, this also incorporated the public consultation exercise undertaken on the future of the paddling pool. You may recall that this was summarised in a subsequent joint press release.

Following this initial meeting with THC, at the end of September we presented our concept ideas to the Public at the NICE AGM held in the Community Centre. This was an open event and gave us valuable feedback and allowed us to proceed with confidence in the development of our concepts and the demonstration of how these might be integrated into the existing topography.

We had hoped to move slightly more quickly from this point, however, with Susan’s diagnosis of secondary breast cancer and weekly treatment in Glasgow, whilst the #TeamHamish fund-raising activities continued at pace with the incredible support of the Community, it was April when we were able to meet again with THC Elected Members to present our developed ideas. These were again very positively received and subsequently taken forward to the THC Planning Development Team at HQ in Inverness.

Moving forward, we propose to hold an Open Public Exhibition of these ideas towards the end June – details to be confirmed. Everyone will be welcome and it will give us the opportunity to obtain further valuable feedback on our proposals. Community participation is very much fundamental in our #TeamHamish ‘Vision for Nairn’ in both the development of the ideas and in their implementation, we will therefore be inviting both individuals and local groups to become involved as we move forward.

We are so excited to share with you our ideas and look forward to welcoming you to our exhibition.

Best Wishes,

🌈 #TeamHamish
